De Ventjager is een voormalig onderzoeks- en laboratoriumvaartuig van Rijkswaterstaat. Ze is oorspronkelijk gebouwd als laboratoriumschip en is in 1972 verbouwd tot peil- en meetvaartuig. In 1985 kreeg het schip de naam RWS 83 en tot 1988 bleef ze in dienst van Rijkswaterstaat. Sindsdien is het schip in gebruik als recreatievaartuig en varend woonschip. De huidige eigenaar heeft de Ventjager in Frankrijk gekocht en teruggebracht naar Nederland. In de afgelopen periode is het schip technisch ingrijpend gemoderniseerd. Zo heeft een hermotorisering plaatsgevonden waarbij een fraai gereviseerde MWM-dieselmotor is geplaatst. Daarnaast beschikt het schip over een goede generator, een Victron omvormer en zonnepanelen, waardoor ze grotendeels zelfvoorzienend is. Een bijzonder praktisch kenmerk zijn de twee telescopische spudpalen, die circa vijf meter onder het vlak kunnen. Hierdoor is afmeren op veel locaties eenvoudig en snel te realiseren. Ook het manoeuvreren verloopt dankzij de recent geïnstalleerde boegschroef bijzonder comfortabel. Naar onze mening is de Ventjager een uitstekend varend woonschip, dat zich bij uitstek leent voor wonen aan boord en het maken van lange reizen over de Europese wateren.

The Ventjager is a former research and laboratory vessel of the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat, the government authority responsible for waterways and water management. She was originally built as a laboratory vessel and converted into a survey and measuring vessel in 1972. In 1985 she was renamed to RWS 83 and remained in service with Rijkswaterstaat until 1988. Since then, she has been used as a recreational vessel and liveaboard barge. The present owner purchased the Ventjager in France and brought her back to the Netherlands. During recent years the vessel has undergone an extensive technical refit, including re-engining with a beautifully overhauled MWM diesel engine. She is furthermore equipped with a generator, a Victron inverter and solar panels, making her largely self-sufficient. A particularly practical feature is the pair of telescopic spud poles, which can be lowered approximately five metres below the bottom of the hull, allowing the vessel to be moored quickly and easily at many locations. Manoeuvring is also exceptionally comfortable thanks to the recently installed bow thruster. In our opinion, the Ventjager is an excellent liveaboard vessel, ideally suited for comfortable living on board and extended cruising throughout the European waterways.

Die Ventjager ist ein ehemaliges Forschungs- und Laborfahrzeug der niederländischen Rijkswaterstaat, der staatlichen Wasserstraßen- und Wasserwirtschaftsbehörde (vergleichbar mit der deutschen Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes (WSV). Ursprünglich wurde sie als Laborfahrzeug gebaut und im Jahr 1972 zu einem Peil- und Vermessungsfahrzeug umgebaut. Im Jahr 1985 erhielt sie den Namen RWS 83 und blieb bis Jahr 1988 im Dienst der Rijkswaterstaat. Seitdem wird das Schiff als Freizeitfahrzeug und Wohnschiff genutzt. Der heutige Eigner hat die Ventjager in Frankreich gekauft und brachte sie zurück in die Niederlande. In den letzten Jahren wurde das Schiff technisch umfassend modernisiert. Dabei erfolgte eine Remotorisierung mit einem generalüberholten MWM-Dieselmotor. Darüber hinaus verfügt das Schiff über einen Generator, einen Victron-Wechselrichter und Solarpaneelen, wodurch sie weitgehend autark betrieben werden kann. Ein besonders praktisches Ausstattungsmerkmal sind die beiden teleskopische Spudpfähle, die sich etwa fünf Meter unter den Schiffsboden absenken lassen. Dadurch kann das Schiff an vielen Liegeplätzen schnell und einfach festgemacht werden. Auch das Manövrieren ist dank des kürzlich eingebauten Bugstrahlruders ausgesprochen komfortabel. Unserer Ansicht nach ist die Ventjager ein hervorragendes Wohnschiff, das sich ideal für dauerhaftes Wohnen an Bord sowie für ausgedehnte Reisen auf den europäischen Wasserstraßen eignet.

Le Ventjager est un ancien navire de recherche et de laboratoire de la Rijkswaterstaat, l'administration néerlandaise chargée des voies navigables et de la gestion de l'eau (comparable à Voies Navigables de France (VNF). Construit à l'origine comme navire laboratoire, il a été transformé en 1972 en bâtiment de sondage et de mesures hydrographiques. En 1985, il a reçu le nom de RWS 83 et est resté en service auprès de la Rijkswaterstaat jusqu'en 1988. Depuis lors, il est utilisé comme bateau de plaisance et habitation flottante. Son propriétaire actuel l'a acquis en France et l'a ramené aux Pays-Bas. Ces dernières années, le navire a bénéficié d'une importante modernisation technique, notamment d'une remotorisation avec un magnifique moteur diesel MWM entièrement révisé. Il est également équipé d'un groupe électrogène, d'un convertisseur Victron et de panneaux solaires, ce qui le rend en grande partie autonome. Un atout particulièrement pratique réside dans ses deux télescopique spuds, qui peuvent être abaissés jusqu'à environ cinq mètres sous le fond de la coque, permettant un amarrage rapide et aisé dans de nombreux endroits. Les manœuvres sont également très confortables grâce au propulseur d'étrave récemment installé. À notre avis, le Ventjager constitue une excellente habitation flottante, parfaitement adaptée à une vie permanente à bord ainsi qu'à de longs voyages sur les voies navigables européennes.
