This Tug was built for the MOD and worked in various dockyards around the coast before being released from the RMAS around 20 years ago.  For the last few years of her service she was converted from a Tug into an underwater range trials vessel and served at Kyle of Lochalch.  When she was released from the RMAS she was used as a cruising live aboard and the current owner has used her around the coastal waters. Built for C Thomas Clagett Jr, an American businessman in 1976, this 72' ketch has had a fascinating history! Built at Derecktor Shipyard (known as America's most accomplished boatbuilder), her early life was spent around Florida and the Bahamas where having a centreboard made cruising that area accessible for a large yacht. Meeting the owner of this Bavaria 51 was a real pleasure. It is always nice to spend time with people that are very close to their boats and hands-on when it comes to taking care of them. She spends her summers used as a charter boat. Hence, she is equipped with gadgets like a flat TV screen and audio system for her guests' entertainment. Inside the spaces are generous. This vessel has recently been used as a live aboard. This ferro cement Samson C Master was designed for blue-water cruising. Although she's looking a bit rough around the edges at the moment, there is plenty of space inside this strong hull to make a good and comfortable living area (6 single beds, a master double, a saloon, forepeak and a wheel house). She appears to have a good engine but taking her back to cruising would mean a bit more work but I'm sure it would be well worth it and would make a great project that could be lived aboard whilst the work was carried out.
